About the Role
We are seeking an experienced FPGA Lead Developer to join our team working on the next generation of neutron detector readout systems. In this role, you will take technical ownership of the readout master module, a mission-critical component in the experimental data path for neutron instruments. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists, driving FPGA design and development that enables cutting-edge neutron research.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead FPGA development for the neutron detector readout chain, with focus on the readout master module.
- Design and implement FPGA architectures and test benches using VHDL and Verilog.
- Develop high-throughput data acquisition systems for experimental data aggregation.
- Work with Xilinx toolchain targeting platforms based on Kintex Ultrascale.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration, performance, and reliability of FPGA systems.
- Support testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of designs at both FPGA and system levels.
- Document designs, processes, and testing methodologies for maintainability and knowledge sharing.
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in technology or science.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in FPGA design.
- At least 5 years of experience with Xilinx toolchain targeting Kintex Ultrascale platforms.
- Strong background in developing FPGA designs and test benches with VHDL and Verilog.
- Proven experience in high-throughput data acquisition system development.
- Hands-on experience with FPGA design for experimental data aggregation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong oral and written command of English.
Meriting Qualifications & Experience
- Experience developing and troubleshooting MicroTCA-based data acquisition systems.
- Prior involvement in large-scale neutron research facilities.
- Experience integrating and testing neutron detector systems.
- Familiarity with git for version control.
- Experience diagnosing board-level and system-level EMC issues.
